» About J. Scott Kelley Photography
Overview
I am a full-service photography studio based out of Dallas, Texas. The majority of my clients are for weddings, portraits, and events (personal and commercial). People hire me not only for my talent and unique vision, but equally for my friendly and jovial personality.
I shoot both in studio and on location depending on your needs. The studio is conveniently located in North Dallas. I also have portable studio equipment that I use when I go on location.
Biography
Hello! My name is Jonathan Scott Kelley and my friends call me Jonathan and I invite you to do the same. I've been shooting professionally since 2003, mostly focused on weddings, portraits, events, and locations.
Although I took one photography course in college, my real training was with the fantastic national photographer and great friend of mine, Winn Fuqua.
Of all things, I majored in Telecommunications Engineering at Texas A&M University. Yes, I’m a big geek at heart, and I’ll admit to having watched Star Trek: The Next Generation. The entire series. In order. In just a few months.
When not geeking out, I love to camp, backpack, rock climb, sail, practice martial arts, and learn to fly different types of aircraft.
This is starting to sound like a personals ad so I’ll stop here, but I hope that gives you a good idea as to who I am! Thanks for taking the time to visit my site!
Capabilities
I have a broad gamut of capabilities that I provide, whatever your project needs. I shoot both digital and film, studio and on-location, people and things, personal and commercial, day and night, and many other dichotomies!
Please contact me with your needs and I'll be happy to discuss how I can help.
Equipment
A lot of people have asked about the equipment I use and whether I prefer Nikon or Canon. I’m happy to say that I’m not a zealot and I believe that both systems have excellent strengths. If you’re looking to buy an SLR, you’re not going to go wrong by going with one over the other, although I do advise you stick to one of those two.
That said, I shoot Nikon. I like their flash system better and I find their controls faster and more intuitive. My primary body is Nikon’s D300 and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. The following is a list of the equipment I regularly use:
- Nikon D700
- Nikon D300
- Nikon D200
- Nikon SB-800 Flashes
